520 _aIn the present study, epoxy adhesive along with AA5083 aluminium alloy and Dual Phase(DP780) steel sheets were used for investigation.Nowadays, the use of adhesive and adhesively bonded joints have been considerably appreciated in the industry due to reduced stress concentration, rust prevention, and a significant reduction in costs compared to other types of permanent joints. Adhesively bonded joints application in structural components for automotive industry has increased significantly in recent years and provides many benefits that will ultimately lead to lighter-weight vehicles, fuel savings, and reduced emissions. The principal benefits are design flexibility, opportunity for part consolidation, and joining of dissimilar materials.The bonding may be made between metal-metal, metal-composite or composite-composite. The aim of this work is to carry out an experimental study, quantify the various parameters affecting the strength of single-lap joints. In the present study, the work was to evaluate the strength of similar and dissimilar materials joints by performing shear-tensile tests and also influence of various parameters were scrutinize suchas the surface roughness, overlap length, bondline thickness, curing temperature-time and also artificial sea water environment was created to study its effect on adhesively bonded joints. Different types of failure such as adhesion, cohesion and mixed type failure wereobserved during failure mode analysis
