520 | _aHydraulically and thermally developing laminar flow induced dust deposition on a flatplate is of practical and fundamental interest with isothermal/non-isothermal and heat flux boundary conditions. The analysis of transport and deposition of an isolated inelastic dust particle of different size and shape are presented in this thesis, which is organized as follows:The first chapter deals with the analysisofasteady,incompressible,two-dimensional,laminar,Newtonian fluid flow over an inclined flat plate. The reduced formsof momentum and continuity equations usingboundary layer approximation are solved using the fourth order Runge-Kutta numerical schemeintegrated with the shooting method. The calculated velocity profiles at the differentangleof inclinationserveasthe input to heat transfer analysis. The second chapter deals with the solution of simplifiedenergy equation with boundary layer approximation for the considered flow over an inclined flat plate using a constant heat flux or constant/variable wall temperature boundary conditionsalong the length. The non-dimensional temperature distribution alongthelength of aninclined plate at differentangle of inclination isobtained. These velocity and temperature profiles are used for analyzing the particle trajectory over an inclined flat plate. In the third chapter, the one-way coupling of Eulerianand Lagrangianapproaches arepresented and the effects of different Stokes number, particleshape/size, andheating condition are analyzed on the transport and deposition of aninelastic particle on the inclined plate. The trajectory is computed with MATLAB using the external forces namelydrag, shear-inducedlift, bodyand in addition thethermophoreticforcedue to the temperature gradient. The developed tool will behelpful in analyzinga problem, for instance, dust deposition over a photovoltaic panel or a heliostat, for mitigating its effect on the system efficiency.Key-words:Laminar fluid flow,Eulerian and Lagrangian approach,Runge-Kutta numerical scheme,Dustdeposition. | ||
