Summary: "Energy harvesting through piezoelectric materials by extracting power from ambient vibrations is a promising technology. The material is capable to harvest sufficient energy required to make autonomous and self-powered electronic systems. Energy harvested through the process of converting ambient energy in system into useful electrical energy through the use of specific piezoelectric materials in specific configurations for desired purposes. These materials exhibit electromechanical coupling between mechanical and electrical domains. It harvests most when the bender excited at resonance frequency. In this line, this thesis first do parametric studies of various factors affecting the natural frequency of the piezoelectric bimorph. It is designed in such way that it will be in resonance with excitation frequency. It directly affects the amount of power harvested. The bender will be embedded into host structure to harvest energy during system operation. The goal is to parametric study of value of the power and voltage output for various input frequency conditions. Various piezoelectric materials, substrates, and geometrical conditions are compared for energy harvesting from vibrations. In this thesis bimorph is designed for powering a tire pressure monitoring system. Commercial feasibility of this option is compared with existing battery operated tire pressure monitoring systems. "
