Summary, etc | "The energy balance of photovoltaic (PV) cells is modeled based on climate variables. A necessary part of this modeling effort is the prediction of the operating module temperatures. The thermal model is designed such that it requires minimum data input. The main input parameter to the model is the INOCT (Installed Nominal Operating Cell Temperature). INOCT can be defined as the cell temperature of an installed array at NOCT conditions (20°C ambient temperature, 1 m/sec wind speed, and 800 W/m2 solar irradiance). The program used INOCT for characterizing the thermal properties of the module as well as the mounting configuration. INOCT is estimated from the Nominal Operating Cell Temperature (NOCT) and the mounting configuration.<br/>Infrared (IR) thermography could be an important diagnostic tool for assessing the performance of photovoltaic panels. Malfunctions, material and insulation defects can be detected easily and fast without complicated proceedings. In particular, we introduced the potentiality of IR thermography for the identification of maximum and minimum temperature, abnormal high temperature and the rapid location of local hot spots or other problems.<br/>"<br/> |
